Fashion Arts - General Overview
VCC’s Fashion Arts Certificate Program is one of
the most successful in Western Canada. Designed for those entering the fashion
industry and for professionals who need to upgrade their skills, all courses
are taught by industry-experienced instructors. Quoted in The Georgia Straight
as one of the “best places to spot tomorrow’s John Galianos
and Stella McCartneys”, our reputation builds on teaching excellent

CAREER POTENTIAL
With over 300 companies in the lower mainland, the apparel industry is the
fifth largest secondary industry in BC. Program graduates are often sought
by companies to work in design, pattern making and grading. Others work
in the growing film and theatre industry, work in freelance, successfully
launch their own companies, or become instructors. Many graduates make their
mark on the local, national and international fashion/costuming scenes.

LOCATION
Vancouver Community College's
downtown campus is within walking distance to some of the city’s most
exciting neighbourhoods including Chinatown, Gastown and Yaletown. Each
of these areas has unique architecture, historical significance and offers
a variety of shopping opportunities. Businesses include; antique shops,
contemporary furniture studios, galleries, interior design services, designer
clothes and shops filled with inspiring items gathered from around the world.
The arts and entertainment districts are also close by so you can go to
a hockey game or the theatre after your class. Vancouver designers continue
to achieve world-wide recognition for their distinctive design work in a
variety of areas including animation, software, graphics, interior design,
architecture, landscape, clothing and jewellery.
